Dr. Karen Jacobs and Why Your Backpack is All Wrong

Dr. Karen Jacobs, occupational therapist and clinical professor at BU’s Sargent College, is a backpack expert. She and her team of researchers studied the effects of heavy backpacks on the developing bodies of elementary students, and her findings were startling.

Backpack misuse is no juvenile problem; Dr. Jacobs also tells WTBU New’s Kyle Clauss why college students are at risk if they don’t “pack it light and wear it right.”
